Maple View's Sweet Cream
Southern Living, June 2006

This Hillsborough, North Carolina, dairy farm features an ice-cream shop serving the fresh and delicious treat.

Smiling and slurping customers line the front porch at the Maple View Farm Country Store. They've found the perfect place to enjoy the homemade ice cream and pastoral overlook of this Hillsborough, North Carolina, dairy farm.

Muffin Brosig didn't intend to create the ice-cream flavor honey-toasted almond. "I wanted something that tasted good with a little bit of crunch, but that's not what I was thinking of," she says. Lucky for us, the ingredients she thought were wrong turned out to be just right. The flavor joins more than a dozen others scooped daily. You can't lose with a cone ($2 for one scoop), but they'll mix up any kind of shake ($4) you can imagine or drizzle fudge on a sundae (starting at $2.50).

For a few weeks a nearby church posted a message on their sign: "Our Sundays Are Better Than Maple View." Now, we've never attended that church, but we can tell you that sitting on a porch with a cone comes pretty doggone close to a religious experience.
