Maple View Farm Milk voluntarily recalled some of their milk products this week.
These products are exclusively the ones that have a sell by date of 8/25.
The reason for the recall is that we bought some locally grown corn that contained aflatoxin.
When our cows consumed the corn, the aflatoxin passed through the cows system to the milk.
We found out about the aflatoxin on Thursday August 10, 2006, and stopped feeding the corn immediately.
We received a new shipment of corn on Friday August 11, 2006, and started feeding that corn immediately.
The Department of Agriculture is scheduled to come on Saturday August 12, 2006, and retest our milk.
If all tests come back negative we will have milk back in the store by the first of the week.
This recall in no way affects Maple View Ice Cream.
All ice cream packaged in pints, half gallons or by the scoop is not affected by this recall.
As a matter of fact,
getting a scoop of ice cream might be the best way to combat and soothe this unfortunate situation.

Thank you for your continued support of Maple View Farm and be assured that we would never put any product out for consumption that we did not think was safe or would cause harm to anyone.
Thank you,
Farmer Bob, Russ Seibert, Roger Nutter, and Muffin
